Polar Vortex

We woke Wednesday to temperatures that fluctuated between one degree above zero
to minus three degrees below zero.
The sun was out, there was a dusting of snow on the ground,
the wind was blowing, schools were closed.

Folks whose mail was delivered by walking postmen/women
did not receive mail.
The high for the day was five degrees.
Had to have set some kind of record for this part of the state.
---------------
Today we started out at zero degrees.
At noon, the temperature is already eight degrees.
The sun is shining, schools are cancelled,
the wind is not blowing.
----------------
Global warming has disturbed the polar vortex
and allowed it to meander south.
Brrrr!

January '19 Snow

We woke Sunday, January 13, to close to ten inches of snow!

The snowplow had gone north.

Our road, going south.

It was difficult to walk in the deep snow.
John made tracks with the Oliver to make walking easier.
The Oliver was none to pleased to be taken from its 'warm' garage.

Ice on the neighbor's pond.
Where are the six ducks? Hiding in the pipe under the drive?

Monday, the sun was out temporarily.
Today, has been overcast, temperatures in the upper 20's.
Maybe Wednesday will be warmer.
We can hope.

Aunt Velma

John's Aunt Velma was a vibrant, loving and generous woman.
She was always a part of John's life; a part of my life for 50 some years.
She will be missed.
